McRae has decisive win in Wigram grand prix

Defending Tasman champion Graeme McRae won the 100-mile Lady Wigram Trophy in his Leda GM1 by almost a lap from Mike Hailwood (Surtees TS8), despite a last-minute engine change and front brake pads worn to metal. His 112.93 mph race average made it the fastest race run in New Zealand. The win gave McRae a narrow lead in the Tasman series with 18 points to Hailwood's 16.
