English driver - NZ-made car
English designer Adrian Reynard, 29, was to drive the New Zealand-made Sleepyhead Cuda 5 in the 1981 series; team manager Bill Stone said it was a serious bid to win the NZ Grand Prix in a locally built car. The Cuda 5 is based on the Williams F1 car that won the 1980 world championship. Reynard won the 1979 European Super Ford championship and builds about 25 cars a year.
