McMillan wins both heats of Lady Wigram Trophy

Auckland's Dave McMillan (Citizen Ralt) won both 80 km heats of the 1980 Tait Electronics Lady Wigram Trophy before 7000 people, leading both from start to finish as rivals struck trouble in strong winds. John Smith broke a driveshaft on the grid at the start of heat two, triggering a pile-up with de Cesaris and Perkins; Rothengatter retired with a broken timing chain and Smith later retired too. Steve Millen was second in both heats and now led the Aurora AFX series by 10 points from McMillan before the final round at Pukekohe.

Unlike New Zealand, Bntain has a substantial motor ..racing calendar, and circuits easily reached by a good network of motorwars. And there are motor racing schools where budding racers can find out relatively cheaply if they are cut out for stardom, or racing oblivion. So motor racing is much more, obvious over there, with far more television coverage, and easier sponsorship. Hence the healthy market for racing cars. Here are some of the cars we will see: March (UK). Made in Bicester, designed by Robin Herd. In 1970 cnns Amon, Jackie Stewart and the late Jo Siffert drove these cars in Formula One.
