History made in this Wigram motor race
Peter Greenslade's review of the 14th Lady Wigram Trophy: Clark and Amon's nose-to-tail battle put Wigram on a par with Pukekohe as a power-driving circuit, with Clark's average just under 103 mph. For the first time in the Tasman series no resident New Zealander finished in the first six. Clark's standing lap of 1:25.2 was followed by a 101.22 mph second lap to earn the $1000. Hulme ran on three cylinders for the last 40-50 miles and Courage was second in the Tasman standings with 13 points to Amon's 24.
