Facts
- The Motor Racing Club expected more than 25,000 spectators at the January 1961 Lady Wigram Trophy meeting.
- Races have been held at Wigram since 1949 but only since 1954 have they carried international status; there was no racing in 1955 because the tarmac was being resealed.
- Winning average speeds at Wigram rose from 66 mph (Maurice Proctor, 1949) to 90.3 mph (Jack Brabham, Cooper-Climax, 1960).
- Club president Jack Brewer said there had been no major or fatal accident at Wigram since racing began in 1949.
- The Motor Racing Club's policy was to raise standards by constantly increasing overseas competition; its championship event for single-seaters not in the main race had by 1961 a higher standard than the first Wigram main races.
- Brewer described Wigram as comparing more than favourably with any other aerodrome circuit in the world, limited only by distance from factories and maintenance sources.

Filler item on tyre-noise research: US laboratories test tyres against abrasive steel drums with microphones, then on roads, leading to undercut tread designs for quieter running.
