- Upper: Reg Parnell (Super Squalo Ferrari) tries to increase his lead from Auckland driver Ron Roycroft, No. 19 (Ferrari), and Peter Whitehead, No. 5 (Ferrari Super Squalo). Lower: Sheer physical exhaustion from handling his car in the terrific heat and after no sleep working on his car the night before caused Horace Gould to lose all chance of success. He stopped after forty-five laps for a drink of water, but after fifty-one laps he brought his 250F Maserati into his pit.
