Historic Wigram motor race ends
The Motor Racing Club announced in April 1994 that it will not apply to hold the Lady Wigram Trophy meeting in 1995, ending the event at Wigram; the international series round will move to Ruapuna. President Don Craighead cited the stricter safety rules (concrete barriers) required for the more powerful Formula Brabham cars, static spectator numbers, the club running only one meeting a year at a temporary circuit, and the uncertain future of the Wigram base.
