PETER JACKSON Shall SUN VALLEY Ford GOOD YEAR 9%%. Sponsorship encouraging This year's Benson and Hedges international motor racing series, of which the Wigram meeting on Sunday is the fourth and penuitimate round, marks the second year of involvement by the Auckland-based Global Sports and Promotions company. The inaugural Benson and Hedges series proved so successful that Wills New Zealand decided to sponsor the formula Pacific events that run within the series. Global's involvement has added a touch of professionalism to the series organisation and last year's racing categories benefited from a condensed championship programme with a resultant increased entry inall ciasses. With ever-increasing costs competitors, backing such as that from Wilis has assumed paramount importance and along with moter sport's traditional spon-l sors such as Shell, and Ford, supporters of Sunday's meeting include Hansells Sun Valley fruit juice, whose sponsorship has breathed new fie into the exciting sports sedan championship. Above all though, Global's involvement, particuiarly through the efforts of its motorsport manager, Brian Lawrence, in the United States has revived the public's interest in top class single seater racing in New Zealand.
