Rosberg robbed of his chance in last race but carries off series

Keke Rosberg became undisputed Peter Stuyvesant series champion with a win at Wigram, though the final points margin was narrower than expected. In the first race Larry Perkins led from pole until a slide on oil or water let Rosberg through; a multiple shunt at the first corner of the second race wiped out Rosberg and several others, including a collision involving Bobby Rahal and Steve Millen. Dave McMillan was top New Zealander in the series.
