Wigram transformed
Next Friday afternoon, 100-plus workers and Motor Racing Club officials will transform Wigram airfield into a racing circuit at a cost of about $4000, with a temporary pit wall, grandstands and scraper tyres replacing the straw bales and metal drums, no longer judged safe. Club president Ron Rutherford says racing can continue if safety requirements are met each year. Corners are being renamed with advertisers' names; the pace car will be a $20,000 Ford Fairlane.
