Molloy wins three-man struggle on old machine

Ginger Molloy won the NZ 500cc and open airfield championships at Wigram after swapping his balky works Bultaco for his 500cc Norton, edging Neville Landreth by less than half a length after a three-way duel with world champion Hugh Anderson (Suzuki). Landreth narrowly won the first 11-lap race; Molloy took the 250 and 350 titles on the Bultaco with Anderson second. Landreth set the day's fastest lap of 1:43 (about 83 mph). Tommy McCleary was unlucky with a valve problem.
