Mechanics race to prepare Brabham's car
Jack Brabham reached Christchurch from Australia to find his Cooper-Climax partly dismantled; his mechanic Tim Wall and McLaren's mechanic Colin Beanland worked all night on it for the 1960 Lady Wigram Trophy. McLaren was to use aviation fuel through lack of methanol; Gavin Quirk would drive his own 250F Maserati and Roly Levis was likely to drive Piper's second Lotus. Jim Palmer received brake pads from David Piper.
